Sevilla, Cromberger 1537. Traduccion de A. Montesino. (Palau, 131.079; Salva 3436). En folio, pergamino de epoca. 8 hojas; 252 folios. Gotico, escrito en dos columnas. Portada en dos colores y en xilografia. En verso: texto en orla de grabados xilografiados. Dos otras xilografias al verso de la hoja VIII. Iniciales del texto en xilografia. Colofon, folio 242 (=252). Ex libris: Biblioteca de Salva. Primeras cuatro hojas con pequenos danos marginales y manchas de utilizacion. Por otra un ejemplar limpio, impreso sobre papel fuerte y sano. Ejamplar sin restauraciones.
Texto basico sobre la vida de Cristo del cartujo Aleman Ludolfo (o Landolfo) de Sajonia (1300-1368). 'La obra tuvo gran difusion en toda la cristianidad a finales de la Edad Medio' (Perez, J: Teresa de Avila, 2007). Existe una traduccion en la lengua Valenciana y una edicion incunabile de esta (Valencia 1496). Isabel la Catolica solicito al Franciscano Ambrosio de Montesinos traducirlo del Latin en Castellano. Tuve su primera edicion en Alcala de Henares (1502, primer libro impreso en esa ciudad) por Stanislas Polono y, segun Palau, una reedicion por Cromberger en Sevilla en 1530 y otra en 1537. Libro muy raro. En el patrimonio se encuentra ningun ejemplar de las ediciones de Cromberger, sino 6 ejemplares (completos de 4 tomos) de la primera edicion de Alcala de Henares, y algunos tomos sueltos (el tercero y el quarto no mas). Salva dice 'solo tengo el primero' (ese ejemplar).

Amsterdam, P. Mortier, 1700 (Brunet III, 200-1; Poortenaar nr 35). In folio (44x28cm), contemporary calf, two volumes, large supralibris on both volumes, front and back, blindtooled & gilt. Both spines restored. Excellent condition.
The magnificent binding represents the Arc of Convenant, implemented by the Double Drawer Bindery in Amsterdam, 1700 (Storm van Leeuwen, Book I, pp 243; 244, plate 39). Plates by Jan Luyken, Jan Goeree and Bernard Picard. Worldmap by Luchtenburg (Shirley 622) as are two other maps. A marvelous copy of the print bible by Mortier, in magnificent binding and in modern, very beautiful colouring in the style of Dirk van Santen.

Nd (but circa 1700), no place - In octavo. Exeptional, contemporary binding: contemporary full calf, original copper clasps ; binding decorated with two central vignettes in copper (one 1790) ; raised spine with three extra leather straps, each mounted with four copper nails. Front and back plate, strengthened with hammered copper strips. (6) 796 pp (3) ; 137 Lieder (songs).
Complete edition of the auss Bundt, a series of religious Lieder, composed by imprisoned Baptists in Passau (Germany) as an act of faith and contempt towards their captors. The original set contained 53 Lieder and was first printed in 1564. Other Lieder were added over time. These songs are still sung today in the Amish communities in the USA and thus belong to the Baptist tradition. They are intended for a broader Protestant community though. (Fur) "allen und jeder Chrissten welcher Religion sie sijen unpartijisch nutzlich" (usefull for all Christians).

Oviedo, Francisco Plaza. 1719 (colofon). (Palau 159910). En folio, pergamino de epoca. Titulo en manuscrito en el lomo. 22 hojas; 97 pp; 392 pp; 16 hojas. Portada en negro y rojo con un pequeno grabado dulce.Segunda hoja con escudo de Luis Fernando de Borbon.Retrato a plena pagina de Obispo. Segunda portada, arondeado por olas. Tapas gastadas, primera portada un poco corto, tocando la primera palabra. Texto en muy buen estado de conservacion.
De la literatura tengo la impresion que Francisco Plaza era el primer impresor de Oviedo y por ende de Asturias. Imprimio su primer libro en 1681 (Escritura, acuerdo, condiciones etc), su segundo en 1718 (Segunda carta pastoral de…Francisco Joseph, Obispo de San Sebastian) y su tercer, este, en 1719. El Patrocinio, este historia de Asturias, sera entonces el tercer libro impreso en Asturias. Libro importante e impreso tempraneo de Oviedo (Asturias). El primer libro cuenta la historia de Asturias de los siglos VIII al XI enfatisando la deudea del pueblo de Espana a la virgin. La segunda parte describe la vida del Obispo (de Oviedo) Tomas Reluz, hasta e incluyendo una relacion de las fiestas religiosas en esta ciudad.

(Psalter wit addenda) - Moscow, december 1797 - (Sernowa-Kamenewa 1246). In folio ; contemporary full calf over wooden boards, lacks clasps; 1 nn leaf; 2 folios; 519 folios ; Cyrillic (Tsjerkowni) text. Printed in red & black throughout - Introduction; full page engraving (King David by Semjon Nasarow, 1763); text & commentaries Psalms. Except for restauration of the spine and some light waterstaining to about 20 leaves in excellent condition.
The earliest Russian bibles were printed in White Russian, in Sclavonic characters (Tserkowni), which is the earlier form of the Cyrillic character. Only after the foundation of the Russian Bible Society (1814), standard Russian became the language used, and all editions afterwards were printed in the Russian character (Grajdanski) which is the modern form of Cyrillic character, introduced by Peter the Great.
