Edo, Itoya Shobei, c. 1870 - woodcut on four sheets of paper, rebacked and folded into 64 leaves - 67c87 cm (plus annex 10x20 cm) - colour print - inset : Tsukiji Hotel (= Edo Hotel)

Though this plan carries no date, the "Edo Hotel" was built in 1867 and destroyed by fire in 1872. This is another variant of a city plan of Tokya at the beginning of the urban renewal of the Meiji period, interesting for its view of the famous Tsukiji Hotel, which was built in 1867 by Shimizu Kisuke and well-known by strangers calling it the Edo Hotel. The two groups of larger ships show the Japanese flag with the sundisc, established at the same time. Inserted also an abstract of the distances from Nihonbashi.
