Estamos especializados en los viajes de descubrimiento que sentaron las bases de la prosperidad neerlandesa y de la Europa occidental, desde finales del siglo XV hasta bien entrado el XVIII. Desde las grandes expediciones españolas, portuguesas e inglesas, pasando por el conocimiento decisivo que puso a disposición de todos Jan Huygen van Linschoten, la llave de Oriente y el origen de la VOC, hasta los viajes de Barentsz, Van Noort y De Houtman. Las relaciones de viajes, los mapas, atlas, globos, cartas e instrumentos surgidos a su estela constituyen el núcleo de nuestra colección, junto con los libros de ciencia que hicieron posibles aquellos viajes: navegación, astronomía, cosmografía, matemáticas e historia natural.
